But honestly, there is somebody in Alberta that I'd really love to work with. Her name is Michele Barry, but she doesn't reply to my emails at all. Her student is a friend of mine, and he told me her lab is really prestigious and that she has lots of funding. ...there is also this professor called David Andrews, he is also wellknown, but he said his lab is full....both of'em work in my field, viral infection, apoptosis and Bcl-2 family

seriously, you just have to persevere...is there a conference where you can meet this PI? If you meet them personally and you can introduce your work,that might give you an edge...and yup, immigration policies have become tighter recently but at least it's still open...good luck dude...

I'm very thin on top now, lost a lot of hair last year, this postdoc was more killer than PhD. It's a really tough project.
It will be very costly to come to Canada from Asia to just meet these guys in a conference. I think our university only covers 10% of the costs.
