...ok, I also just watched one of Yimou Zhang's films Curse of the Golden Flower- (if you like chinese era films and Gong Li) ...pretty good...an eye feast, the gory fight scenes are spectacular- rivals Tarantino's in their surrealism and the story's not so bad too- betrayal, cruelty, revenge, fratricide...altho I liked more Raise The Red Lantern...this is a must see film....
I lIked curse of the golden flower, but I liked much more Hero! That movie is beautiful!
Well guys, once I see the movie I will read what prep and doki wrote...

Hero is a much better film I think, but both have really nice photography. Normally I watch them in OV with subtitles
I also watched Hero but I like this film more....but I think most chinese don't like Zhang's films.......how about the House of the Flying Daggers- that one's pretty magnificent too- esp the bamboo grove fight scenes...

Sure, Hero and Flying daggers are both beautiful! I like both, but I love Hero! Both have gorgeus filmographie... ( I did not realize the director was the same)
1st position Hero
2nd Flying Daggers
3rd golden flower

it's the same director who did the Beijing Olympics Opening ceremony.......and the first place for me- Raise the Red Lantern...though there are no flying and kung fu fighting in this film...

You need flying and small drops of water in slowmotion hitting a sword to have a good kung fu movie!
From that genre I love crouching tiger, hidden dragon
