Imagine if every tree had to fill in a form before it was planted. The world would be full of seedlings and saplings, writing up their proposed plans for growth. They would have to answer questions like, 'Why do you want to be a tree?' And then their answers would be scrutinised by an independent board of examiners. Although, actually, they could not put those answers down on paper because paper comes from trees - and there might not then be any trees. How complicated and impossible does a simple situation need to be today?

Some people, given half a chance, can argue convincingly, that black is white, that the moon is made of green cheese... or even that Yukio Hatoyama has great taste in shirts. You're dealing now, with someone whose powers of persuasion are impressive. That doesn't mean, though, that it's appropriate to believe what you're being told - especially if, in order to accept this idea, you're having to overcome your own strong, natural misgivings. Be willing to listen, by all means. But trust your eyes at least as much as your ears.

I was at my desk the whole day so there was almost no seacrh. The closest was asking waitress at one restaurant if she would want to go for lunch with me to another restaurant; well, I guess she started that.

Where does fog come from? Who creates it? Why does it linger? I don't mean the kind of mist that any meteorologist can explain away. I'm talking about human fog. Misunderstanding. Uncertainty. Doubt and delusion. The trouble with that kind of fog is that you can't see it falling. You don't necessarily notice it, even when you are right in the thick of it. It's only when you come out of it that you know you have been in it. Someone is wrong about something now. As soon as you see this, you'll see everything.
