I'm not sure our sakura is as impressive as other parts of Japan- Himeji castle, I think our campus is very pretty (we have lots of sakura) and in the mountains you get sudden pink flashes from the wild mountain zakura (deeper pink) which is very pretty too. As to whether it lasts any longer I dunno- about a week of full blossoms probably.
I"m sure you have plenty of other bears in Canada- I nearly met one near Lake Louise once! (kowaii ne.... the massacre continues)

And seriously, I'm not one of "them" (how many times do I have to tell you BB :P ), otherwise my romaji would be much better :P , besides, it's easy enough to know most of these japan info- thru the web or by talking with japanese postdocs or those who did their grad studies in Japan. I heard that there's usually only one publicly-funded university for each of the prefecture and I'm pretty sure most ryugakusei (foreign students) will be placed there.

I've been to some hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in Osaka and Kyoto and they're really spectacular, I esp like the weeping type and those with the dark pink blossoms. Makes one appreciate what the cherry blossoms represent- impermanence of life, transient beauty etc., lots of barbecue smoke and very loud music making the flowers dizzy …the eternal struggle between man and nature….

Btw, you had close encounters with what- a grizzly, a black, Yogi? (kowakunaii but kawaii deshoo ne…release the wrecking ball Lost-san :P)

She missed it!!!!!!!!!!!! She is not 'one of them' I can say now . . all those U said are true . . but the real spirit of Hanami is in spirit itself - litres and litres of pure, transient beer under clear blue sky. :P

Good night Kasuandura san :P

PS: I have no idea in 3 years where the hell is the security!

All's well that ends well but with lots of lessons learned eg..staple the keys to your person; know how to reach security, what if there's a crime like an umbrella theft  ; and lastly, who works at 4 am? Well goodluck with your unending day BB...

Umbrella theft!!! Kowai kowaiiii.. that happened to me few years back and since then I have not bought another. . I have been using one that had been just lying near my desk whenever it rains and everyone knows it is noone's but borrows from me when they want to use it :P

And, I usually do not work at 4am . . (nor any other time) but few days ago I made some calculation mistake and ended up with this time for my harvest. . I seriously wanted it to be 4pm . . but small calculation mistake :P
