I'm not sure our sakura is as impressive as other parts of Japan- Himeji castle, I think our campus is very pretty (we have lots of sakura) and in the mountains you get sudden pink flashes from the wild mountain zakura (deeper pink) which is very pretty too. As to whether it lasts any longer I dunno- about a week of full blossoms probably.
I"m sure you have plenty of other bears in Canada- I nearly met one near Lake Louise once! (kowaii ne.... the massacre continues)

I've been to some hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in Osaka and Kyoto and they're really spectacular, I esp like the weeping type and those with the dark pink blossoms. Makes one appreciate what the cherry blossoms represent- impermanence of life, transient beauty etc., lots of barbecue smoke and very loud music making the flowers dizzy

Btw, you had close encounters with what- a grizzly, a black, Yogi? (kowakunaii but kawaii deshoo ne…release the wrecking ball Lost-san

…the eternal struggle between man and nature….

She missed it!!!!!!!!!!!! She is not 'one of them' I can say now . . all those U said are true . . but the real spirit of Hanami is in spirit itself - litres and litres of pure, transient beer under clear blue sky.
