Guys and gals, I meant guy and gal, perhaps you can post some links so we can have an idea of the songs and films you are so excited about....BB, still didn't get the エモン....esp the 'cutest' thing in the planet even more than the panda, but then I suppose it's ok.......and do carry on...so out of touch these days , it just shows I'm definitely not one of them.....and nikou-san, hope to se you at Last.fm .....how's the 3000 kanji going on? ...Ohayoo gozaimasu...ja mata ne (later guys..)...
Nikou you turned on your PC in the morning and saw your paper was rejected....and in here, I turned on my laptop today morning to see your thread that your paper has been rejected and it freaked me out like hell !!!
I'm submitting my manuscript next week and I'm so stressed out. we still haven't decided which journal to submit and I'm still struggling with my co-supervisor to convince her she is totally wrong about many comments she's put on my manuscript....we had an argument the day before yesterday and because of that I haven't been able to sleep for 2 nights now.
everybody in the lab saw us having the argument....and I'm sure many of'em were happy to see me so tense and nervous. I'm on the 3rd semester of my PhD and they are in their 5-6 semesters and it's not hard to guess they are jealous from the question they ask. to get these results I worked day and night. I slept in the lab many nights (ask Casandra and Nabi, they know) and now I believe I have enough results for a small publication. We know there are other teams working on the same project in other countries, so I want to publish my result as soon as possible without any delay.
why it takes such a long time for some journals to reply?....I really can't wait for 6 months to receive approval. this is crazy!
may I ask what impact factor was the journal you sent your manuscript to?

good morning, casandra how are you?
yesterday I and Nabi got carried away with the K-pop things, it`s so addictive. about the link, you can just use youtube to check the songs or drama I and Nabi wrote above. I don`t know if you are into K-pop or J-pop too, but you are welcome anytime to be our nakama
bout the kanji, let`s just enjoy our life until the next 1kyu test comes, ok ?

Don't believe Curtis. He didn't sleep in the lab many nights. He was working That's what I thought
@ Curtis : Good luck with your publication. We all wish U all the best. I hope U will soon be able to convince (or confuse) your supervisor.
@ Nikou : Ohiogozaimashu.
@ Casandra : sorry, it was a clumsy joke - that now I will have to explain.エモン = Nikou was wondering how to spell ur name in Katakana : confused between Kasandura or Kasandora. I thought Kasandora should be more appropriate as it will remind us of Kasan-dora(emon) - the cuddly little blue doraemon. Ok, time to get mad at me for that

Hello Curtis,
I`m going to be on my final PhD year soon and actually I just published only one paper until now. The recent paper rejection was my first experience, which I still havent submitted again to any other journals.
I`m really sorry to hear about your conflicts with your supervisor. Hopefully you two will just get along again after sometime.
Maybe after you are a bit more relaxed, you can try to consider again about your supervisor`s opinion. It`s really hard to digest someone`s opinion/suggestion when we are so tensed or angry.
In my case, the journal I submitted has 2.6 impact factor and it took 2 weeks to get their responds (that would be the rejection). That time I was so freaked out because I expected a lot from this journal and I was quite confident with my paper. But then, as you can see from this thread, and also some supports from my labmates, it`s how thing works with the paper submission. If I may say, although the acceptance is mostly about the paper content, it is also partly about luck.
One of my labmates submitted his paper and was rejected by the same journal which accepted my paper. I can see clearly that his paper really much looks and sounds "smarter" (if you know what I mean) than mine. And he was also rejected after couple months waiting. I only did it for one shot, then it`s done.
That`s what I meant by luck. I know, maybe some other people don`t agree with this, but that`s what I think.
If you are really anxious about being scooped by other people (yes, I agree that anything surely can happen in 6 months), you might want to make a "back-up" paper? I`m not sure if you can do this with your data, but just give it a try.
I myself will also fight back after the rejection. So, Curtis, let`s try together and good luck!
That's the Fiiitoh spirit!!!!!!! Yosh!
Oh I'm just in time for my late night gossip and nihonggo botching-up hour....mina-san, o-hiro wo tabemashita ka (have you guys eaten lunch already?). Nikou-san, I think Curtis got a bit worried.....so next time, can you please start our day with something less traumatic than a paper rejection? ...btw, have you already signed up for Last.fm? Don't make me sing and dance again to the tune of Beyonce's All The Single Ladies just to recruit you......you'd be sorry...and what's K-pop (karate pop, karaoke pop?)...never really liked this techno pop....

Hai, tabemashita yo!
Casandra-san, genki desu ka?
K-pop=Korean pop, aside from that I don't know it- I remember seeing one video once, it seemed to involve a hairdresser and a photographer getting together, the woman having a tragic accident in the dark room and the guy donating his eyes (!! ) to give to the woman, as to how the song went I have no idea cause the video was so bizarre....
I'm sure the full horrors of J-pop and K-pop will be unleased on Last.fm shortly (you have been warned, you can always retreat to your comfort of Bach)

Karate-pop and karaoke-pop do sound fun!! Yes, it is Korea-pop. It`s just the same like Japan-pop and J-pop.
I haven`t signed up on the radio because I had problem with my password. I promise I will sign up soon after I finish this damn abstract. My supervisor has been haunting me since yesterday.
Yeah, yesterday I was busy discussing about boyband with Nabi
