Well, well, well . . making mistakes speaking to them - I would be someday thrown out of this country for all the slaughtering I have done of this language. Many times when I speak something, I get to see that shocked look and 'who taught you that' alarms my ears
this is good to know....they were probably thinking that a girl "taught you that"- no wonder the shocked look....you know of course that in japanese, it's quite pronounced the difference between between a girl's way and a guy's way of talking.....ask nikou-san....she addressed us both as girls in a previous post... ........ yosh.....
...break a leg BB-san...
wait a minute....are you saying that both of you are guys????????
U never know who is who here
haha...well...honestly i do feel you both are (were?) girls when you two speak nihongo. maybe you wanna use "boku" or "ore" instead of watashi?
in fact, i did use boku and ore when i came to japan 4 years ago, and eeeeeveryone scoulded me saying DAME DESU YOOOO :DDD
what could i say, that time i was the only girl among 12 boys and 2 male sensei in my lab

I have never used 'boku' till now. I don't find it pleasant ; but dunno why I have always been using 'washi' instead of 'watashi' in spoken Japanese - may be pretty much influenced by the rough/tough Japanese spoken in this region even by my prof and all seniors. People outside find it amusing when a gaijin is naturally using 'washi'.

I really like "boku" that I wish I were a guy
Btw, I heard that "washi" is a very old term and was only used for the samurai. So, it`s interesting that every region has its own language use
And Casandra-san, if you are a girl (yes, I`m pretty sure you are), you don`t need to use the "boku" or "ore". "Watashi" will be good

Well it would suit all those Bishi guys here to have girly names
I'm still a newbie in Japan so I can't distinguish between accents. the only thing I'm learning at the moment is all the abbreviated words that are used here
Sutabaa- Starbucks
Makudee- McDonalds
MistDoo- Mr. Donuts
oh and Mo-kun the name of the Actor in Departures (Okuribito)who won that oscar thingy
