I was just interested what kind of operating system people are using.
I just heard that MacOS is very popular in the US, und in germany biologists are to lazy to get rid of windows,...

I converted from Windows to Mac about 3 years ago and love it. And the change wasn't very difficult at all. I would never switch back to a PC unless I need to for certain programs. Although Macs are a bit more expensive, for me, it's worth it.
I don't think that German biologists are necessarily lazy (in regards to Windows)....the exposure to Windows (and the market) is much bigger there than in the US (as far as I remember). I never considered owning a Mac while I was living in Germany.
Windows in work and MacOS at home, I didn't vote since you can't choose 2

Minnie can't even turn on a Mac computer, nor delete a file in MacOS.

Perhaps the issue is more with the IT setup. The two institutes in our little precinct happily run both mac and Wintel, but the PC people have problems than the Mac people (I'm for Mac!); it's rare to see the BSOD (blue screen of death for casandra ) with the macs.
There are fewer viruses for MacOS than window.
Too bad you can't choose more than one OS -- at home, I have XP on four machines, Linux on two machines, and Vista on one, and I have two XP and two Linux at the lab. Mac's OS is essentially Linux (well, Unix actually) with a pretty GUI...

I haven't even seen a Mac...most probably had but they look all the same to me.....like...cars....
I have always been using Windows and never had any problem (that I could not solve ) so will stick to Windows. But, the computer I got here does not speak English and I switched to Linux. I still have Windows though as WinMDI does not function well with Wine.(nor sake) It will be hard for me to downgrade to Mac any time in future.
I still support Microsoft as some part of the money I might spend (or I encourage others to spend ) goes here I suppose - affects lives of millions.
look into Microsoft's future

Hm, the old and the contemporary windows looks different...
I have two mac laptops - one running Tiger the other running leopard (which is excellent & has mouse pad gestures). Both have vmware on - vmware has XP and linux installed under it so I have access to both of those. My desktop pc is dual boot - running XP and linux (I change between fedora/ubuntu/gentoo/suse).
