What I wanted to state is that when I (or someone of my family) goes away on a bike trip or will be doing something dangerous we make arrangements so that they have a cellphone and that they can call me for ex to ask if I can come and get them if their bike broke down or someone else if something really bad happened (hospital).
If a real emergency happens (something we didnt see coming, then I dont see the point of being 100% avaible there... I mean: do you have your cell phone on at night? I really dont see the point there in a normal situation. Ex: if I go for a ride with my bike I take my cellplhone with me and my parents/brothers know this and then they will make sure they have a cellphone with them or are at home near so they can hear the fixed phone.
The other way around: ex if my youngest brothers goes for a bike ride and my parents arent at home, they ask me to make sure I have my cell phone with me and on.
(but even then: if something really bad happens, they just phone the hospital first and not me...)

Another example: if my parents of brothers go on a holiday with the airplane or by care we make arrangements before they go like for ex: "we will call you when we arive, make sure your cellphone is on between X and Xam or whatever.. Same when they are gone : make sure your cellphone is on each evening between 7 and 9 o'clock for example.

And just to make things even more clear: my dad nor my mother owns a cellphone...... So I cant just call them everytime

Its actually the simplest explaination/excuse at all: cell phones are giving to "young people" when they go out so they can contact their parents at home when something goes wrong... and they want to go home , to let their parents know to pick them up ...
(this is the idea behind most cellphones given to children: the parent-child relation in wich the parents are at home, near the fixed phone or cellphone they have).


Thats how I think about cellphones: they are there for certain situations, but not to be there 24/7... most people that claim this is needed are either idiots that call their parents/family to ask if the "food is serverd yet or not" or are people that need it because of their job (like doctors). But normal people: really, you dont need a cellphone every moment

PS.: what if your parents live at the other side of the globe.. what then? Still think a cellphone is a good idea...?



BTW: what do you think about this news==> studies have shown that a lot of teenagers and young people are having bad sleeps (sleepdeprived) because they send/receive text messages during the night... This is getting a bigger problem in many countries now... And a lot of the people dont even swith their cell phone off at night.. but for what?
There is no reason to have your cellphone on if you are not a doctor that might get a call or a fireman or in certain situations like when your parents of whoever is at the hospital and might die or is about to die and you need to rush to the hospital in case of emergency.

I dint know something like QIAcube existed.... basically whats the point, if it processes 12 samples at a time???? Also, what is the iPAD doing there???? It does not even need a computer connected to it. Like an electronic weighing scale at a supermarket, it could simply print "Extraction completed..time and date... " from a small dot-matrix print head.

Would you know anyone who bought this product?

Frankly, I do agree with you that kids nowadays do not know the contents of sol I,II,III etc... they won't check email, but they will check their facebook for sure... But I do think that bioforum will still be here to help those kids...
