From what I've heard on the radio, a, it was close, b, bush won, c, ohio is the butt of all jokes... no offence to any ohio-ans. and arafat is either dead, in a coma, very sick, or becoming friends with Mr Burns. and my pcr didn't work because, a, made a mistake with the measurements, b the world is against me, c, idunnoknow, d, magic trolls (dam those pesky beasts).

Well, now that the election is over, I don't find it surprising that Bush single handedly won due to one huge advantage over Kerry - he carried more "morals" over Kerry.
Had Kerry been smarter and NOT take sides with the gays and pro-abortionists and instead mentioned God or The Lord more often in his speeches on top of him going to weekly church worships, then he would have destroyed Bush, there is no doubt.
I honestly believe that Kerry is a much more well-rounded intellect over Bush, who I often look at as goofy. But sadly, what decides who will become the President is the majority and more sadly is the fact that the majority of the U.S. are conservative church goers. If you looked up the news in AP or Reuters yet, you'd know by now that Bush won the votes from every single class of voters except the young class. That incudes the old folks, the religious folks, the non-religious folks.
Kerry provided sympathy and/or support for the gays/abortionists and this costed him dearly. I can't stop wondering now how things would have been had Kerry strayed away from those issues.
The main thing that bothers me about people who are anti-gay or anti-abortion is that they tend to care way too much in other people's most private domains of life. All of a sudden, America becomes the enforcer of people's most private decisions that they make in life. How pathetic it is, whenever I look at all these watchful people who decry the killing of innocent babies, yet they don't even budge a shoulder when they realize the suffering and deaths of millions of children and babies around the world due to malnutrition, disease, famine....and these childrens/babies are actually past that point of development where they understand suffering, too (unlike fetuses). Oh, the irony in this pathetic humanity. I wish that I wasn't a human but a bird.

No JK, I get the point. It would be nice to have some continuity in human judgement...but there isn't any. People will get easily incensed with some subjects… mainly ones that they feel they have the ability to change. That’s why there are these pickets outside abortion clinics, people spraying red paint on furs, and small boycotts. Big problems, i.e. genocide in a variety of countries, the AIDS epidemic in Africa, starving children in 3rd world countries….tend to be overlooked by judgment, because, well it’s out of sight (out of mind), too big to “one person” to make a difference. And then, there are not so little things that we tend to rely on…. What if workers in China etc were paid a decent wage for their work? Would I be able to afford my TV, my shoes, my designer T-shirt?
What if everyone in the world had a flushing toilet? What would happen to all the fresh water after that?
Oh the humanity of it all… yup, it’s flawed alright, but whatcha gonna do?
It’s scary to think that a political opponent would only voice their opinions because they knew it would buy votes rather than because it was right…or controversial, or because it was what they believed in. How many people voted for that guy who stood for prohibition of alcohol? (my guess…zip).
A right/good policy is not always popular. Likewise a popular decision is not always right. But when the people, on mass vote, you’ve gotta accept it. The people spoke… and for whatever reason they picked Bush.
Despite the failings of the human reasoning and actions, changing oneself into a bird isn’t going to make things any better.

I agree in that Kerry seemed like the intelligent one… but I was watching some footage from a debate/interview from election #1, and lots of candidates were asked which political figure most affected their life. Come on, it's the type of question they’d ask before you entered law school. Bush, answered Jesus, and blah blah blah change my life blah blah blah. Now most people in, say New York, would have thought, what a dunce… jeez get a life. People in the bible belt, thought, yeah go for it. Both vote. There isn’t an IQ quota, or a personality test you have to take before being eligible to vote. So whoever presses the most buttons will win.
My mum said she would have voted for Al Gore… even though he wasn’t running...

That's what disturbs me about Republicans - they do all these things just to get seats in the Senate, House, and especially the President's seat.
Not sure if you ever watched it before, Vetticus, but there was this documentary called "How Bush Stole Presidency" talking about the 2000 election, where many many voters were not able to vote due to many 'scams' the republicans pulled off in Florida.
My theory still holds that the Republicans are controlled by unseen forces...most likely religious and/or corporate forces that back the Republicans up. When a Republican becomes the President, the corporate companies of American win big bucks, and all the corporate criminals (CEOs, CFOs, Dick Cheney, Martha Stewart) make money. Or maybe the religious folks get more power? Who knows. Bush is nothing but a puppet.
Kerry probably is too to some extent...the ultimate trick of the U.S. is to make an illusion in this country that we really are democratic...when instead, both parties are actually backed up by big corporate forces. Whoever wins, doesn't matter - the majority of the people always loses.

Helen Razor is cool. Wrote book, “Everything is Fine”… inside had a sticker to place ontop of “Fine” which began with F, but was quite obscene (hehehe). Will find book later and give a few quotes from it…. Quite funny really. “I am not a bunch of English mint.” hehehe

It drives me mad! If you don't want to get an abortion, then DON'T, and let the people who think it better do it, what's it to you anyway?? You probably never been pregnant at 15 or with no house to shelter your coming baby, but try to imagine what it's like (if you can do that sort of thing...
)I personnally think all religion are sects that just made it, and for my part you could just send priests, pastors, curés, mullah and all the others to their precious paradise(s?), there'll be more space in hell for people who don't need a god or anything to tell them what's wrong and what's not.

Well my point was : I find religion(s) stupid and useless and making people lazy about their conscience, but I would'nt dream to tell anyone "hey that's crap, quit this and think by yourself", I would just let people do and think as they please.

Whoever wrote the Bible, the Kuran, blah. Those guys are geniuses - they're able to reap HUGE followings using nothing but merely fairy tales and lots of lies with a few subtle facts sprinkled over the top.
The most powerful being in the universe is not determined by size, money, or power...but instead is decided by how moving/influential/persuading they are and in this case, the people who wrote such texts have achieved that status since apparently, all of the white sheep are being mind-controlled just as the authors of the bible/kuran intended.
Black sheep, unite and grow!!! Overpopulate the white sheep! In the future, I don't think black sheep will dominate over white sheep or the other way around but instead, there will just be grey/gray sheep.

I suppose you’re an expert in ancient history and can tell me exactly who these people are and the reasons why they wrote what they did. I suppose you know every detail about the kingdoms that ruled in Judea, Mesoptamia etc, during the ages when these books were written, and has the evidence to prove that these books are mere fairytales… nothing more. And I suppose you know, for a fact, the amount of cash flow these authors generated by writing such texts.
What a sweeping statement you’ve made about the writers of old. Ever thought to consider that the writers didn’t have an explanation for everything that happened and then looked for a divine answer? Ever thought that the original writers didn’t put pen to paper with the hopes of generating a buck or two, or to brainwash the many, but instead to try to explain the world they lived in?
I agree that a lot of the stuff written in the Torah, Bible, Koran, Dead Sea Scrolls, etc etc is all a load of bull. But when it comes down to talking about the ancestry of the Judaic kings, the wars fought by these people and the reasons for doing so… These have been backed up by archaeological digs, writings from Roman and Greek scholars etc etc. No, not rubbish.
Of the new testament, many of the authors were poor, laborers, who tried to find a better life for themselves and those around them. They didn’t make a bucket of dollars from what they were doing. Quite a few of them wound up quite dead, others became wandering monks who lived hand to mouth. They didn’t ride around in gold plated donkey carts laughing about how stupid the people were in believing the crap they were selling.
The Koran was written to unite a people… so everyone could belong and be identified as Muslim.
How people worship today is different to what it was like back then. To compare the ministers and preachers and whatever else of today and what they talk about is different to what happened back then. Back then, there were arguments and discussions of what happened. Not today, people sit on their little seat, and wear their church clothes, and think about porn or whatever for an hour or two... I'm being cynical not accurate. We’ve got people standing up on their glorified soapboxes speaking whatever they like, and then quoting a few scriptures from their sacred book, knowing full well that after their little speech is over, no one will check that they’ve got their facts right.
Similarly with atheists, who claim that they’re so much better that these church going folk because they're smatter and more in tune with how the world really works… and then can’t explain why “A Brief History of Time” is more logical than Genesis. It's all the same.
I’m not a happy camper when people try to force their beliefs on me. I’m still trying to sort out what I believe and why. I don’t think that science is able to explain everything.
