good posts can be rated (at least in some sections of the forum)! And I think the moderators are quite active in pinning good discussions and useful resources!
And I think nobody agreed with you, because most people here want to help if they can and not to start a competition about points.....

in the summer people didn't reply fast, it took days to get a reply, now it is better cause the universities are open.

the reply always depends on the question! I have had questions nobody could answer....although I got some suggestions what could have happened and others which were answered very good, with a lot of literature suggestions....but sometimes it takes some time for some questions more than for others.....it takes some time until an expert will answer your question B)

but still I am no fan of the point system; as nothing is fixed and stabel in biology. An answer which is correct for e.g. microorganisms may be wrong for e.g. mouse or humans.....just thinking of this, some very good answers might get a bad rating just because the one who rates them is working in the wrong field and nobody looks at them anymore although just this answer might be the one they are looking for :(

Rating is difficult, and this is not a competition. everybody is free to give is opinion and sometime an answer that seems not so good already helps a little.
If there is a rating, people will no more answer.

oups , I wanted to support you.
I erased the first sentence :( : I agree with gebirgsziege, rating is not a good idea :D :)

I don't think there is any meaning to rating, but it wouldn't harm too. I like simplicity. The more frills you add, it may be better, at the same time more complex to navigate, understand, and taking away attention from the more important task of socializing and providing answers. I am more active on Phdcomics forum, which if you look at it, has the most basic type of structure. three categories, no pm, assistant, friends, etc. And yet it is one of the places that people flock to. I came here in addition to there because there is very little of biology specific discussion there. More of engineers and physicists etc.
