Shameless Advertising - (Feb/03/2009 )
I saw you recently signed up here in the bioforum. It is hard to find active interesting people (especially after the crash) here so I contact you, because I am trying to find discussion partners in the field of proteomics, virology, molecular biology, bioinformatics. If you are interested, feel free to connect with me. Are you signed up at researchgate? Do you know it?
It is a web 2.0 platform adapted to the needs of researchers and

P.S. my name is Stephanie Manzoni in Researchgate, if you want to add me as a contact
So, I signed up bioforum before about a month, and I had received this PM. Then I had to sign up again recently after appratently a crash, and the same guy sends PM again, thinking I am a new member! I don't mind, but does he have to aslo say the words in red? Shameless indeed!!
Oh oh, I missed this first part - ..It is hard to find active interesting people (especially after the crash) here ..
Don't worry. I also got one.
I signed up at Bioforum in around July 2005, and re-registered after the crash.
I got one too. I must be trap happy, and signed up with researchgate for a look see. Unfortunately I found the site is very cluttered and hard to navigate.
We regard this as spamming. This guy has sent hundreds of PM to our members. This member has been deleted and IP banned. If you receive further spamming messages, please report it here. Thank you!
Even I got the same message before crash and after crash also . I was surprised coz the message was a reply to a question that i asked in proteomics forum.

totally agree with pernesblue; and they are by no means more active than bioforum.
it's not a guy....it's a girl
I got the pm too, but I admit that I signed up at that website, however as pernesblue mentioned above I also find the website very hard to navigate. it claims it is a web 2.0 platform or something but it is very damn slow.

I got the pm too but I put it in my spam folder, hahaha
that is why I care about BioForum.
I had a lecturer in England, University of Essex who always said this or that website is made by good people for good people. He always mentioned about swiss port, Blast and FASTA that how those engines were made free of charge for everyone around the world to use. it feels good when you make something that people find it very useful and becomes popular. you say to yourself that you created something that everybody likes it, no matter how small but you do your own part for the world.
who cares you earn money from it or not, the important thing is that you feel good inside.
once I suggested having a Yahoo Answers policy for the forum to make it more active. nobody agreed with that and I don't know why. what I said was that maybe we could have points for good answers, or chose best answers so by this way we could encourage people to participate more in the answers.
I am just a user of this website, not a moderator, so it is totally up to the admins.

good posts can be rated (at least in some sections of the forum)! And I think the moderators are quite active in pinning good discussions and useful resources!
And I think nobody agreed with you, because most people here want to help if they can and not to start a competition about points.....
