questions about figure design? - (Dec/13/2010 )
I'm working on a workshop in figure design, and I'm unsure about what the most important things to discuss will be. I plan to focus on relatively simple results-- those from basic science labs involving relatively small data sets. The message will be to design them so that they're easy for your audience (not necessarily everyone) to understand, so we won't really get into any technical stuff. Any suggestions?
One sub-question I have is whether placement of control data is a concern for many students-- were you ever unsure where to put it?
Thanks!
Nature Methods has recently launched a column entitled "Points of View" by Bang Wong, which deals about figure design. Surely you would find interesting stuff. Here a link to Nature Methods free subscription.
Thanks so much, 96well! I'll read through those, and might even try contacting the author of the column.
