Anyway the Netherlands, France and South Korea have more...all well known winter sports nations

In honour of Canada’s first Olympic gold on home soil, here’s a little Moguls 101:
the physics of ski moguls

Hah…and I even understood the first twenty sentences…:)

And have a look here

To quote:

What Causes an ACL Injury
ACL injuries are caused by several factors. The most common is a traumatic force being applied to the knee in a twisting moment, causing forceful hyperextension. Skiers are particularly susceptible to these types of strains when landing jumps, skiing moguls or during twisting falls. The injury can also occur due to a contact force such as being hit from the front or side. Finally, ACL injuries can happen during a fall by a novice skier, when the bindings do not release.

:)....ok..ok....flatten our moguls parade...sports injuries are very common (and not only in skiing) that's why we already have a specialised branch of medicine just for them...we're more informed and there are better management and control measures now than before.... besides, even knowing all the possibilities and injury potentials, most athletes still persevere....stupid we sometimes say but that's what they want to do and they'd risk something for their goal..

for those who missed the vancouver olympic opening ceremony and to continue with more propaganda :), here's the complete text delivered by the yellowknife poet--Shane Koyczan in hip hoppity style (he was pretty darn good...a pity tho that there was no direct reference to the first nations which is ironic).
