Ammonium Sulphate precipitation - saturation required based on molecular weight (Aug/10/2005 )

Dear All,
i m new to this forum. i have a general query as Is there any chart which have a general relation with molecular weight of protein and % saturation of amonium sulphate for its precipitation?

i mdealing with a small protein (10kDa) n facing lot of problem in its conc. . do anybody have any suggestion regarding this for me ?

thanks

what exactly the problem is? . You want to purify this protein? I do purification by gel.

Ammonium sulphate precipitation is more affected by the proteins PI. You should be happy- if your protein doesn't come down at 80% saturation then you already half way to purifying your protein smile.gif

You might want to give acetone a try.

Thanks Daniel,
u r right. after discussing with some experts working on that protein i came to know thati had almost pure protein. its just that it was behaving little unusually on SDS-PAGE.
