Phosphorylation of large quantities of protein - (Feb/13/2005 )

Hi
Has anyone got any idea of the approximate unit quantity per hr of cAMP dependant kinase that would be required to phosphorylate 1 g of a 50 kD protein?

1 unit of PKA transfers 1 pmol of PO4 in one minute.
1 g of a 50 kDa protein is about (1/(50*12)) = 1.667mmol
1 unit= 1pmol, so 1.667 mmol = 1.667 E06 units (in one minute)
per hour = 27783 units. If my maths are okay, this should cost you over 1000$.
Good luck!!
