Loading control for tears WB - GAPDH? (Nov/06/2008 )

Hi,

I´ve to do a WB from human tears samples and I was wondering which loading control should I use. A colleague suggested me to use GAPDH, what do you think? Any other idea?
Thank you very much! smile.gif

What size protein are you looking for?

Common loading controls are GAPDH, B-actin, and B-tubulin, you could also use lamin, B2M, or just about any gene that is stably expressed.

Thank you.
My prot is 78 KDa.
I thought B-actin wouldn´t be a good control here as it is an intracelullar protein and I suppose that the majority of proteins in tears would be the secreted ones blink.gif

Yeah, that's what I think too..

Have you search the litterature for proteins that may be used for loading control in tears sample?

I´ve found one paper in which GAPDH is used (as my colleague had told me). This seems to be the only option. huh.gif
