Plasmid Isolation - (Oct/24/2008 )

Hi everyone
I am going to isolate plasmid and need very high quality, clean, super-duper plasmid for an appliction I'm doing so I was going to use Invitrogen HiPure Pasmid Midi kit for plasmid isolation however, when I was reading the protocol, Invitrogen mentions to grow the E coli in their LB that has something called "SELECT peptone 140" and "SELECT yeast extract". Usually I just make my own LB with generic peptone ad yeast extract and I was wondering what you guys thought. Do you think using Invitrogen's version of LB is going to give me better results or do you think it's just a waste of money and my generic stuff will be fine?
thanks
Lisa

i think they are just trying to make money off you. i got sequencing grade plasmid using qiagen miniprep. e.coli cultured in LB that's non-invitrogen related.

but i LOVE INVITROGEN TOPO CLONING!!!!!!!!!!!
