whats the deal with satellite colonies? - (Aug/27/2008 )
This might be a stupid and obvious question to most on this forum but I dont get why picking satellite colonies is so bad? I mean why is it more likely that the right plasmid is going to be in the main colony?

Satellite colonies are non-transformed cells that grow in the shadow of transformed colonies (once the antibiotic in the medium has been broken down a little). So it's very likely that your plasmid will be in the 'main' colony
