oxidized vs native protein? diffeerence expected on Isoelectric focusing gel? - why? (Aug/03/2008 )
hii.. methionine oxidized vs native protein.. is a diffeerence expected on Isoelectric focusing gel? why? what leads to charge differences there? sulfoxide may not be differently charged than native methionine. thanks!

I agree that the sulfur atom of methionine which has a thioether linkage will be oxidized to a sulfoxide which is an acid group being negatively charged in solution

but what if the oxidation reaction did not stop at this step?
