How to store enzyme for long storage? - (May/05/2008 )

Hi, after I have release out the enzyme from the cells, can I store the crude enzyme that present in the supernatant at -20 degree celsius until it is needed to be use for further experiment?

Usually -80 is better. Also better to flash freeze and store in usable aliquots, so the enzyme doesn't go through rounds of freeze/thaw.

try to find a freeze buffer, containing glycerol or sucrose, buffer (pH 7.4), salt; some enzymes are more stable in the presence of specific trace elements; shock freeze with liquid nitrogen and store as suggested at -80°C
