Rapid growth of transformed DH5 alpha cells - (Jan/25/2008 )
Hi everyone
I was wondering if anyone knew of a rapid way that I could grow my transformed DH5 alpha cells so that I would not have to wait overnight in order to have culture for plasmid purification. Someone once told me that you could grow in terrific broth for 3-4 hours but I can't find that info anywhere.

well you may do a amss prep with 3-4h culture. you'll retreve few DNA but it may help you out.
it will not allow you to avoid an overnight culture to get enough amount of DNA to make a stock.

lisa, i would suggest you proceed with the overnight culture to be on the safe side. many students in the molecular biology lab try to do a prep in a few hours and in the end -- have nothing...good luck!
