Primary-Secondary Antibody Question - (Oct/22/2007 )
Does this combination of species work for primary and secondary antibodies for western blot?
Samples are mouse
Primary Antibody: Hamster anti-mouse
Secondary antibody: Mouse anti-hamster
I always thought the species had to be different for the primary and secondary.
Thanks!
yes, that should work.
Just for clarification, your "hamster-anti-mouse" means hamster antibody against a specific mouse protein, right, NOT hamster antibody against mouse IgG (which is what I would call hamster-anti-mouse, as in the case of your mouse-anti-hamster mean mouse antibody against hamster IgG), because if it is the later, then no, it won't work.
Wait, you sort of confused me!
The primary is hamster aganist a mouse protein, not mouse IgG and the secondary is mouse aganist hamster IgG-HRP.
That works, right?
yes
should be ok in that case, sorry for confusing you.
