Gene expression - (Oct/04/2007 )

I wonder why the bacteria express and produce the recombinant proteins viz Insulin,Growth Factors etc (in higher amounts???)which they dont need for their survival.Why are They just wasting their nutrients, energy and time for others( for humans).Or do they also like social works?? Isnt any regulation system for this?Can anybody explain.

Maybe because they were engineered to do so...
They didn't produce those compound in nature (at least not any bacteria I know of).
People just learned how to "comand" them to do that. It's quite handy although not always easy.
