mass spectrum how much protein is enough for it? - (Jan/10/2007 )
as title, I wondered how much protein is enough for mass spec? I will use LC-MALTI-TOF. I will cut the one lane to several slides and then put in LC. I run 10ul of my samples in silver stain and I saw bands, according to this, how much sample i should load th LC?
Thanks a lot

you think of MALDI-TOF; 50 pmol may work

what do you mean by 50pmol? if I saw it on silver stain , is it enough for 50pmol?

we can analyze it by mass spectrometry when we see the spot staining with coomasie blue

it is in the low ng-range, for high molecular mass protein is more mass needed than for low Mw protein; a silver stained spot may be enough even if not stained by CBB

Thanks all. i will try to load as more as I can on CBB gel.
