problem in protein purification phenol by phenol extraction - (Oct/24/2006 )
I tried phenol extraction method for protein purification... but i am not getting a aqueous layer as supernatant as expected... but get a white fluffy pellet... so.. and a viscous green supernatant (Cyanobacterial culture)...
i couldn't guess were my proteins would be...
need some help in this regards...

I guess the supernatant is the water phase; the lower phase of phenol appears to contain some precipitates, I guess of protein; I would think of an alternative protocol, there seems to be some serious problems in your current protocol
