A question on membrane filter assay - (Oct/11/2006 )

I am going to do membrane filter assay for aggregate. I notice that 0.2um cellulose acetate filter is always used for that purpose. I am wondering if I can use 0.2um NC or PVDF membrane. If not, what is the reason?

I do not know what aggregates you have, but anyway, cellulose acetate filters are used to filter protein or enzyme solutions or medium because of its low protein binding capacity; moreover, CA are more strenght than NC or PVDF which have high protein binding capacity
