dialysis need to done against water to remove salts n other low molecular wt contaminants

As gangliosides form micelles when its concentration above cmc, which have MW well above its MW. All lipids form mixed micelle with other lipids, so dialysis may not be an effective way to remove other lipids. You may have to use columns.

Removing salts can be done faster using extraction.

hello i really appreciate ur help but i m going to dialyse the sample only after i exract membrane preparation thrice with solvent system Ch:methanol........only when i get polar lipid in upper aqueous phase i m goin to dialyse it against water for 48 hrs to remove contaminants...after dat i ll subject it to further extraction to remove protein impurities......finally i ll use lypholized sample for tlc staining.....actually i m bit confused to decide cut off mwt for dialysis...sample amt s low so cant go for try...as far as i found 10kda s fine but still nt sure...
