what buffer will prevent the precipitation of protein at -20? - (Aug/06/2006 )

can somebody recommend me some buffer that prevent or help the precipitation of protein in freezer?

you could add some glycerol?

but it depends on your protein, on the buffer that's already in there, and what you plan to do with the protein later...

well i would suggest you some buffer related to those for restriction enzymes...
You can add 50%glycerolin your protein buffer. But may be too high, and i don't have tests for minimum glycerol amount for not freezing at -20°.

One time I add 20% glycerol to purified T7 polymerase, it precipitated shortly. I lost everything.

you may also have a look a commercially available related proteins for checking in which buffer they're compatible...
