protein samples on ice - how long is too long? (May/31/2006 )

hi all
just having a really paranoid moment - got fresh mouse intestinal polyps this morning and then promptly forgot them and left them in lysis buffer (as whole chunks) on (wet) ice for about 3 hours......will the protein still be ok for westerns??????

i think yes.
But best is to test.

I guess it shouldnt be a problem.

I don't think there will be a problem unless if you liberate the DNA. It will render the sample viscous, and all proteins will stick on the DNA.

If your sample is not viscous, then it's fine.
