so my protein has degraded....why am I seeing higher bands? - (May/18/2006 )

i was just explaning to my prof that my protein has degraded as I left it at 4C....and was showing him the PAGE....but there are bigger bands also not just smaller ones... blink.gif ....what could those possibly be?????

depends on size - could it be multimers of protein or do you cook sample for about 5 min 100°C (which should separate them)?

Rekombinant Protein in E.coli if I got it right - so can't be posttranslational...

Your protein isn't his-tagged so you could do an anti-his Western to be sure?

it is, most likely, denatured, insoluble (or nearly) aggregates of your protein.
