Gel filtration - (Mar/21/2006 )
here's the question:
gel filtration studies revealed that protein X has a Stokes radius of 50A , given that bovine serum ablumin has Mr = 67000 and a Stokes of 35A
can I conclude that the Mr of protein X is around 204282 ?

around 204282
and diameter of earth is "around" 12,756,270,453,243µm
for reference : currently best measurement is 12,756.270 km (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth#Physical_characteristics)

I would rather use a protein with a stokes radius close to your proteins, or better use several proteins and check for linearity

i am used to determine m.wt by plotting caliberation curve with know mol. wt proteins in same buffer
