Wine - red or white (Jan/05/2006 )

Pages: 1 2 Next

Is it true?

Red wine made from red grapes with skin.

White wine made from red or white grapes with skin removed.

Then what kind of wine made from black grapes?

Hi,

general red and rose wine is derived from red grapes, white wine from white grapes.

The main difference between red and white wine is the fermentation process. Red grapes (including skin etc...) are fermented in the mash giving red wine a special aroma.
Fermentation without mash will give you rose wine.

Fermentation without mash and with white grapes will give you.........well........,.....,white wine tongue.gif .

Cheers

for me it's red wine, particulary from "Graves" or St emilion.
In white wines, it's the sweet that i like. Sauternes has the favorite place rolleyes.gif . (as Yquem is too expensive.... but i will test it soon as i give a bottle of it to my parents for birthday... )

I like Graves and Haut-Médoc, but not St Emilion

I have a problem.
I still have some choucroute in my fridge but no more alsacian wine (only swiss one).
how can i adapt my swiss wine to make it close to a sylvaner?

we should have a kitchen forum !!... guess the biochemistry forum could be one. In my PhD lab, we used to say to students that a good biochemist is also a good cooker and that bringing a good cake is a proof of being a good biochemist !! true.

(works only with girls, boys are too lazy... or too shy?)

With the exception of a good merlot, I prefer beer.

Grappa is another kettle of fish entirely.

-pBluescript-

how many homebrewers out there? I know many of us have probably dabbled from time to time...heck we made it in class when I was getting my undergrad cool.gif

but, really, is there anyone here who is serious about it?
