Protein Conc determination - (Apr/03/2009 )

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question, just to make sure what I am doing is correct...

I need to determine the concentration of my protein in order to use it as a standard. It is pure. So, I have worked out E, by adding the number of W, Y and disulphide bonds in the mature protein.

I then take this value, with the determined molecular weight (MALDI) and use the 'Other Protein, E & MW' function on the nanodrop to determine the concentration.

Is this good enough? And correct?

Thanks,
L

Hello everyone,

I've noticed I have had no replies to this post - can anyone tell me why? Have I either a) not given enough information, or :) nobody uses the nanodrop or c) something else?!

Cheers!

Go for simple methods of protein estimation like bradford or lowry or Spectophotometric
