ABI 7300 qRT-PCR and ddCT protocol - (Oct/09/2013 )
I have recently swithced to a new lab and in here the ABI 7300 P qRT-PCR system software 'SDS' do not show the ddCt Relative Quantification protocol. Upon being asked, the ABI distributors, replied that they need a license code to allow the ddCt RQ protocol to run. The lab personnel at the time of machine set up thought that a complete system and software is being installed in its active form.
Now I would like to ask the community here that if this system was installed in your lab, were you all made aware by the distributors that RQ protocol requires a fee other than the software and qRT-PCR machine?
We have already paid the price of system and whole software once, and weren't given the hint about fee for a particular protocol within the provided system software. How can we convince the company to activate our ddCt RQ protocol?
Any suggestion or comment will be much appreciated.
Academic institutions keeps receipts for ages. If ABI is not willing to show you their original purchase receipt, find your institutions. You can also usually get some leeway if you mention that you use there chemicals, plates, films for the machine and mention that many other companies make more suitable replacements. It has work for me with some things. I guess it just depends on the overall cost of the product.
