reducing agent? - (Aug/05/2011 )

hi

which of the following chemicals is used by you as reducing agent for proteins??

(a) TCEP
(B) DTT
(c) beta mercaptoethanol

have you found any advantage of one over the other??

They are all used. TCEP supposedly doesn't cause your co-workers to run away (2-ME and DTT smell horribly), however I have not tested it on my precious samples.

Hehe, I use DTT all the time, I really think it smells good, haha.

TCEP always (since i found a really cheap supplier - $300 for 25 gr's compared to ThermoSci's ridiculous pricing)

Main reason is - TCEP is more potent than the others, no odor, stable in air, good with IMAC purification.
