Help! I spilled Trypan Blue... - stain removal (May/06/2009 )

Hi all,

I wasn't sure where to post this, since it's not really a scientific question, but maybe someone out there can help. Basically I'm a total klutz and spilled some trypan blue on my shirt (that'll show me to wear a lab coat...), and I was wondering if anyone knew any tricks for removing this stain. I was hoping to avoid bleach, if I can help it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Trypan blue is soluble in water; perhaps you can just soak the shirt in water and then launder normally without bleach?

what sort of fibre shirt? Trypan blue doesn't have great affinity for silk or wool, but seems to stain cotton really really well (unfortunately). My best guess would be spot some bleach on the stain. Otherwise you could try some acid-ethanol (talk to a histology lab).
