Can my results go in publication - (Mar/30/2009 )

Hi All,

I really need advice from you,

I am working on zebrafish model. I am checking that lets's say gene "a" downregulates Gene "B" .
I have real time results to support, I have Gene "B" promoter which shows the binding sequence for gene "A" . I have EMSA results which show binding along with Super shift.

Can the data mentioned above be published ? what kind of journals? do you have come across any similar paper?

I know many o u will ask why not do a transfection as well. But I am not able to do it as I dont have proper ORF . If I do TRansfection I need to make my own vector . Its going to be a lot of work, and way beyond my deadline.
CAn I use mamelian or any other fish expression vector , and CHO cells for zebrafish.

please help me.

will be very thankful

regards
Vani

I don’t see a good reason why the data mentioned above be published.
To the kind of journals, well it really depends on you. Ask your adviser were he thinks it should go. The first journal of the top of my head for you mite be Journal of Biotechnology (J Biotechnol.).
I have come across many similar papers.

Thanks molgen,

my supervisor says that they might be questions like why I do not want to couple up my results with transfection.
but transfection is giving me problem, I cannot get the ORF itself. that's why I wanted to publish whatever I have.

Look,
I've published my work. Almost every time one of the surveyors had questions.
If you answer them in a convincing fashion then it'll be Okay.
If thy say that without transfection thy won't accept it for publication then send it to a different journal (better off with a lower impact factor)

reviewers often have good recommendations. When you follow them, it often makes the work you´d done before better and it also can improve the content of the publication.

don´t think about the things they are able to ask! maybe they´ll do maybe not!

I think you shoud try.
