how to handle this situation? - (Nov/03/2014 )

I work with a post doc and my supervisor at a lab. The post doc and I work under this supervisor. We work on sequencing platform mainly Illumina. Every time there is a sample in the sequencing pool that got less sequencing reads versus other samples in the same pool he blames me that I didn't quantify the sample in the pool properly. I always quantify by qpcr and he for the sake of starting an argument with me says that it is better to quantify using bioanalyzer. I know majority of people who do Illumina sequencing quantify by qpcr. It is the gold standard.

I think this post doc just wants to pick a fight with me and because I'm not a phd he could feel threatened by my knowledge. How do I deal with someone who is obviously wrong in their information and is just trying to make me look bad. Even my supervisor said he didn't understand why he was acting like that and said to keep doing what I'm doing. So it confirmed my suspicions the post doc may be jealous and wants power even to the point of saying any bad ideas aloud to make me and all my hard work and effort look bad.

Please tell me things I could say or action to take to either get him out of this job or to be more collaborative with me. My English is not that good to 'say the right things' like some people can.

he may just not be able to accept that he may have done something wrong (mr. always right) or must always find someone to blame for everything that goes wrong rather than just find out what actually happened. since your supervisor is aware that you're not the problem, you may just want to ignore the pestdoc (intentional) or have the supervisor put him in his place. you don't need the aggravation.
