x64 problem in Windows 7 - program not to install (Aug/13/2010 )
a free program to run analysis of microscopical data refuses to be installed under 64bit Windows 7; changing the compatibility mode to Vista or XP does not help; any suggestion to install and run the program under Windows 7? (the manufacturer has no x64-compatible version)

you can try to run it in compatibility mode (normally right click on the file, click on properties and then click on compatibility tab in the window). There you can select different modes even older than xp...not always works...
Maybe ask the supplier provide you the latest software?
or may be you can use the XP virtualization
What program is it? Is the error you get when trying to install the program coming from the installer, or from Windows? If there's no way to get it to run under Windows 7, you can either install XP on the machine in a dual boot configuration, or run XP in a virtual machine, using a program like VMware's Workstation or Player programs.
thanks for all replies; running XP virtually seems to be most suitable; I think the maufacturer knows the problem and works for a x64 version
