Science career in europe - (Mar/17/2010 )

I am little interested to know about different conditions or criteria for career in science.
I heared in Germany

If you are not becoming professor at the age of 40 then you will never be professor after 40???????

Can some body update me about the these facts for

Germany

Austria

Netherlands

Too bad Belgium isnt in the list , otherwise I could tell you something more about that.

But I would find it strange anyway if that wouldnt be possible.

Thanks for your reply. My purpose was to start the discussion but I cant not list all countries. But I will love if you can share information about the Belgium or norway or whatever.
