Good point and I think most of us see Obama's as what it was -the fix was in.
That said, let's consider what, in our respective fields, we'd have seen the Nobel as appropriate. By his adopted name, we know telomerase is ok with this year's choice.
But who and for what would others nominate?

As far as peace prizes go, Mahatma Gandhi should have received one, for physiology and medicine, I would have to say Chargaff. It is a shame that posthumous awards are not allowed. Since they are not, I would support Sei Ogawa for his work on magnetic resonance imaging.

In posthumous context - many would see Rosalind Franklin as appropriate co-awardee.
