Screening cDNA Clones by RNA In Situ Hybridization
(Goodman Laboratory)
The RNA in situ procedure described below is based on the protocol developed by Tautz and Pfeifle, but adapted to allow the screening of 96 RNA probes on whole-mount Drosophila embryos at the same time.

Sequential RNA and DNA fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
(Epigenome Network of Excellence)
The most efficient way to map gene loci and their activity is sequential RNA and DNA FISH. This is an important technique to uncover how gene positioning is linked to activity.

Storage of Chromosome Preparations for FISH
(Thomas Ried's Lab, NCI)
The quality of stored chromosome preparations varies considerably from one case to another. In some cases, good preparations can be obtained from cells stored in fixative, while in other cases, the quality of the chromosome spreads obtained from cell pellets is poor. It is therefore recommended that specimens harvested for chromosome preparations which are to be used for FISH and SKY be stored both as cell pellets and as slide preparations.
