Freezing cells - (Sep/12/2005 )

My tech froze a bunch of cells by directly placing them in LN2 (skipping the slow freeze stage). I have never done this before. Are the cells worthless now (viability shot)???

I think so. But why not trying to bring them in culture and see which cells can be rescued?
And let us know the result....

Had the same situation and the cells were fairly viable (~70+%). I think it depends on the cell type.
