does anyone not use the upstate salmon sper/agarose slurry for their chip assays? If so, do you add salmon sperm or herring sperm DNA to your agarose beads before clearing and percipitation steps?

Yes, I have used salmon sperm/agarose slurry coming with the ChIP kit. I don't need to add anything before use for clearing and percipitation. Upstate also sells the slurry separately.

Do you usually wash your beads with lysis/IP buffer before adding them to IP, or use them straight out of the jar?

use them straight out of the jar...
