INTERNAL CONTROLS IN MICROARRAY - (Aug/04/2005 )

WHY DO WE NEED INTERNAL CONTROLS IN MICROARRAY? Is this for normalization?

I wonder what should i do with the internal controls. Should i label the internal controls and then add into my samples or what should i do? Any ideas? I will work with long 35k human oligonucleotide array.

I hope for your answers!

Thank you!

I am not an expert, but I would think that you print a probe robustly hybridize to a certain transcript that you have. then spike the transcript with a know concentration in you sample, this way the signal of the probe you printed can be used as an internal controal.

Have you heard about using external controls in microarry or are there only internal controls?
