What is the role for gelatin in PCR buffer - (Aug/04/2005 )

Does anyone know the role of 0.01%gelatin in PCR buffer?

It's "generalized protein" serving a role similar to BSA -- it keeps the enzymes from sticking to the walls of the tubes, and probably provides a target for random proteases that might be present.
