Difference between cell proliferation and cytotoxicity kits? - (Aug/03/2005 )

I am really puzzled at the difference between Cell Viability Kit, Cell Proliferation Kit and Cell Toxicity Kit. They seem to be the same to be. So what's the difference? Could anyone help to clarify my puzzles? Sincere thanks!

I don't think there are different kits for proliferation and cytotoxicity assays. When you expect your treatment stimulates cell growth you are measuring proliferation, while if you expect the treatment inhibits cell growth, you are measuring cytotoxicity. For example the Onesolution cell proliferation assay kit from Promega can be used for both assays.

I think so. pcrman, thank you very much!
