B-gal reporter gene - importance of C-terminal region (Aug/07/2002 )

hi! i am using B-gal as the reporter gene for a promoter analysis. i have a cassette of my promoter and b-gal in a single copy vector. i want to transfer it into a multicopy vector. but i am having problems with suitable RE sites. i will have to cut the 3'region of the b-gal gene with ecor1 removing the last 19 aa. i would like to know whether this will be still usable. and will it affect my assay. thanks
