Seqlab on Mac OS X (tiger) - (Jul/26/2005 )

Dear all,

I am struggling to get the graphical features of GCG to work on a computer running Mac OS X (Tiger). The university (Kings, London) has GCG running on a Unix computer somewhere. I am able to ssh into that computer but cannot access Seqlab. I have tried the xwindows command (and chosen colourworkstation) but then I get the output : Driver unable to open display: No such file or directory
Is this an X11 problem with my Mac?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
James

I'm no expert, but did you try "ssh -X" in X11? It might work. Does other grafical interface programs work, when you connect with ssh?

Just got another idea: Are you sure the linux computer knows that it is working as a server? On a mac, you need to tell it. Maybe you can find some clues on this website: http://www.dias.kvl.dk/biolinux/X11server.html'

Thanks Marianne,

I managed to get it working in the end. Actually it was quite a stupid issue (X11 wasnt installed properly). So it was no problem after that.

Thanks, James
