Will the amount of G418 be affected by serum concentration? - (Jul/14/2005 )

Hi,

I am in the progress of generating a stable cell line and have generated a dose response curve with 10% serum. However someone suggested that I should prepare my stable cell line with 20% serum to help the cells. will this affect the G418?

My lab has been using 10% serum for generation of stable cell line, it works very well.

that not gonna affect the G418. Basically, it's done for enhancing cell division rate and going faster with selection of negative cells.
